The actual flight path is probably more like this.

This past November 9th marks the 6th anniversary living in the United States, which also means that it's been 6 years since the last time I was in China, having never been back to visit my family and friends (all of whom miss me so dearly ... at least I would hope to think so).

This is all going to change - this winter break from 12/11 to 12/31, I will be visiting China - more specifically, my hometown, the coastal city Taishan. This visit will mostly be focusing on meeting up with friends from elementary-school-era and spending time with family.

Since I don't get to go to China much, I will try to document my winter vacation there as much as possible. For this very occasion, I purchased the $82 RCA EZ209HD camcorder from Amazon to record my travel (I would advise you to stay away from this if you want to do some serious HD recording though).

I will be sending out postcards/holiday cards while I am in China too, so if you want one, fill out this short form!

Well, until I am posting from China next time - Happy Thanksgiving!

Isn't it amazing that my birthday falls on the same day every year? Well, today is that very day again and I just turned 19 - the last of my teen years.

I am not too excited about turning 20.

RIP GeoCities Oct 26 2009

GeoCities logo

Over half of a decade ago, I created my first hosted web page on GeoCities. It was a horrible website, featured pages with images flying all around, and the Internet's all time favorites - the blinking and marquee tags. My site on GeoCities is long gone but the memory of it always stays. While GeoCities didn't get me into the whole IT thing, it definitely deserves credit for getting me into this whole web development business. Well, Yahoo! is to officially shut down the free hosting service today, ceasing the access to over an decade of memories.

RIP GeoCities, you will be remembered by millions of old timers.

It's Move-In Day Sep 20 2009

I just moved into my dorm room at the Scholars West House today. It was a long and rainy day. I came down to campus early so I didn't have to deal with the heavy traffic and everything went very smoothly, except that it started raining when I was going out to get food.

I didn't get to meet my roommate until later in the day. He seemed like a likeable fellow so hopefully we won't have any problems and most likely we won't.

Home sick is definitely not a problem for me, I guess living close to home helps (same city) but I don't think it would have mattered have I went to school a few states away.

I guess I will consider myself an Buckeye now. :)

ps: I've been posting more frequently recently.

I Just Like Watching Movie! Sep 19 2009

I used to have a page on the old version of this site to keep track of the movies I have seen, but I stopped updating it after the script I wrote quit on me. I decided to bring the page back to life last night after being pretty frustrated that the little side project I am working on keep giving me errors that I can't fix arrgghh!! Anyway, I took a break from that project and spend a bit of time updating my movie database, with the help of Google's AJAX Search API to query the release year of the movies from IMDB, saving me hours of work to go through over 400 movies that I have seen in the past few years.

You can find the list on this page. I am going to share some statistics I've generated.

  • 463 movies as of today
  • Most (429 movies) of them were released in or after 2000
  • 86 movies' title start with "The"
  • In 2007, I have seen 91 movies, which is pretty close to one movie every four days.

Well, now I am going to get off line and watch a movie. :D
